Can anyone tell me something about this piece? I was told it came from one of the original post offices in the nashville area. No markings to help identify age or who crafted the piece. It is 18" deep, 61 inches wide and about 3 feet high....big and heavy!! Think the wood is Cherry. All the drawers work perfectly...the only restoration needed is a top and a piece of moulding on the bottom. I love the multi-toned colors! A few people have commented that I have an "incredible piece" so I am trying to find out as much as possible about it. Thanks!

Wow, that is an awesome piece! I don't know anything about it other than its super neat!
My guess would be hardware store, there was likely a large showcase on top with item from the showcase in the drawers.
Hmmm...there definitely was something de-tached from the top. I was considering having made a copper "shoe-box-lid-fit" top. Might complete the piece in a unique way. Thanks for your thoughts YSD. Any guess on the date of the piece?
Date range from late 1800's to somewhere around 1920's would be my guess.
