      I believe that is an early tracing stylus. Quite possibly used with carbon paper to trace an image.

      Hi there!
      This is for sure a burnisher, used after applying gold leaves on wood furniture or frames or as thin on leather book cover.
      What was it dooing in a garden? That is the mystery! ;-)
