    Doulton Lambeth known as Doulton Slater. The process looks like the patented 'Chine' method using linens to impress the soft clay.

    Date around 1885 - 1939.

    Minton trained, designer John Slater the famous Doulton art director changed the fortunes of Doulton Lambeth with his inspirational designs together with the young works manager, John Cuthbert Bailey. They were facilitated in their efforts by owner Henry Doulton, son of the original owner.

    Henry Doulton had launched his art wares studio in the London Lambeth pottery around By 1871. By 1882, doulton purchased the small factory of Pinder, Bourne & Co, in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent Staffordshire in the center of The English Potteries.

    Doulton was to become very popular due to the work of John Slater who produced a variety of figurines, vases, character jugs, and decorative pieces. His work set the eminent reputation the company still enjoys even though they were late to races compares with the older established companies of Coalport, Royal Worcester and Wedgwood.

    In 1901, this pre-eminent work was rewarded by the Royal family with a Royal Warrant becoming Royal Doulton.
