I picked this up today. This hammered finished cookware has visible dovetail seams on the side and the base. The base has an ornate six sided star within a star- somewhat visible from the underside. This cookware has been tinned and measures 12 inches wide and 6 inches high.

I will be attempting to identify this cookware. All comments are welcome. Thank you for reading.

Can anyone help me identify the design inside the pot? The six sided star, could be the shield or star of David. I observed something similar on a Russian site for copper cookware; it seemed to focus on Hebrew and temple items.

Hi Virginia, it does seem like it is a piece of judaica. Is that Hebrew writing on the white rectangle on the side of the pot? Maybe it is made in Israel?

Hi Jewels, I was hoping that it has some historical value as it is for my personal collection. I wish I kept the sticker for closer scrutiny as it is now removed. I am hoping the sticker did have sacred writing on it or "not for food consumption" rather than "made in China", lol. Either way, I think it is a beautiful piece, as crude as the cramped seams are. Your information about Judaica seems to have opened additional search information for me to investigate, thank you.

Hi Virginia, I can understand wanting to find out the history, trust me, I do it all the time--love this stuff! I zoomed way in on the sticker and I cannot make it out at all, but it definitely does not say made in China! :) It is certainly old and I would imagine have ties to Judaism. Even within the Star of David, it looks like there are other symbols and things, maybe leads there? Anyway, next pot, love it!
