    I found this pretty intriguing icon.
    Frame details are fantastic, as well as the icon story itself.
    I believe this to be the Greek alfabet, but not sure..Russian?

    Any ideas what this is, what the translation is inside the glass, and on the back?

      The more I look at it, the more I am convinced that the relief material inside the glass is not wood...there are no tool/knife marks...i m pretty sure this is handmade
      Could it be made out of an animal bone?

      still looking for help :) wonderring if I should take it to a rofessional, but just want to avoid paying for an appraisal for something that is not worth

      It looks like Greek - try visiting one of the Greek Orthodox Churches in your area, maybe someone there can translate it and tell you it's meaning. - (and they don't charge any fees)
