I would love to find out the origins of this teddy. I bought it from the teddy bear shop in Whitney in the late 80s. I'm sure they said it dated from around 1910. It is 60cm tall, has a hump and glass eyes. I also think it has a growler as there is something rattling around inside it. I would greatly appreciate if anyone can help identify where my teddy originates from.

Manikin will tune you up when she gets here. First thing she is going to say is; Does it have a button in it's ear. So look now and save time later. Mani is a cool chick and she knows her stuff.

Thanks for replying. There is no button in ear but there is a hole in right ear where button could have been. Either that or it's just a small rip! Hole doesn't seem to go all the way through to back of the ear.

Oops I meant it has a hole in its left ear. Can't tell right from left!

      Hi
I need a clearer photo and a side view so I can see profile of whole bear . The pads look like velveteen vs Felt are they ? Can you add a few more photo's and also of hole in ear ?

I've added a few more photos with the help of my daughter. I think the pads might be velveteen- fabric seems smooth- and there is remains of claw stitching on the pads of the right paw and foot.

Thank you - Yes I can see now paws have been replaced . Originally they would have been felt on your bear and there would have been black stitch to indicate bears claw. He is a Early very desirable Growler with long nose and hump back, jointed and long arms . I think the black floss/yarn that should show a line under nose and mouth is gone . All signs of a Steiff and the hole in in right place they always tagged Left ear. Excellent bear and worth having a bear repair expert put felt on and black stitches back . He is wonderful dates around 1910-20's . Is he stufffed with straw so he is a bit crunchy ?

Thank you very much :-D.Yes he definitely feels crunchy. I will look into finding an expert to repair his paws.

Not completely sure but looks like an American Stick bear from the 1920's possibly Ideal?
