    sklo42
    (886 items)

These are small, just under 10cm./4 inches.

They are iridescent with a crimped rim and ground out pontil. There is a 'tubeline' design of leaves and flowers in gold enamel, infilled with gilding, and then more gilding between the crimps.

The odd thing is, that though the outside feels circular, the inside feels to have ten sides, giving the impression of panels (see pic.1).

The second picture was taken down through the rim as it shows clearly the shape of the flowers, in case anyone recognises the design. Any help would be appreciated.

I believe this might be Loetz ...DEK? Very nice! But I maybe wrong...
    2. inky inky, 10 years ago
      Could be a Loetz...it's beautiful!...:-)
    3. sklo42 sklo42, 10 years ago
Thank you Moon, I'm not hoping but they do look nice with my last pair.
    4. sklo42 sklo42, 10 years ago
Thanks inky. I'm not hoping because I've seen three Loetz rose bowls of this type on here and the flowers were daisy shaped. These flowers are shaped like bluebells and the glass looks different...

My feeling is it was a competitor trying to benefit from another' success. :)

That would be nice BUT ......as I commented to inky
    6. inky inky, 10 years ago
I think you will find they are, as LeahGoodwin has confirmed... I never like to go in 'boots and all' to attribute... not that!!! confident with my knowledge....enjoy them they are very beautiful...well done you!...:-))))

Thanks Leah, for taking the trouble to comment, and my apologies for being a doubting Thomas at first :)

Hey inky, what kind of a person argues when two far more experienced collectors identify her item as loetz! So...humble pie it is....sorry.

Thank you czechman, geo26e, and ozmarty for the loves.

Are the rims the same? They look ever so slightly different but it might just be me?

I don't know as much as all the persons on Loetz Art Glass or Bohemian Art Glass - may be worth posting there as well?
    12. inky inky, 10 years ago
ABSOLUTELY!!!.. no need to apologies...it is good to doubt any attribution.. till... in your own mind you are happy...for you that brings research which in turn hopefully knowledge... after all you!! have the item in your hands we don't! we can only go on photos of your vases and to us the signs were all pointing in the same direction...again well done!...:-)
    13. sklo42 sklo42, 10 years ago
Thanks Ian, the rims are indeed different, as is the weight and the enamelling as so much was done by hand. It's only when you get two together that you really notice.

sklo42, thank you for not quashing my attribution totally...when mentioned.

My niggling doubt, inky, was the difference in the enamelled design. That said I've been an avid follower of CW Art glass show and tell for years so I know that you Leah and Moon have astonishing glass collections and experience which I respect. Also I can't believe I could be that lucky twice! :)

Hi Lee, my reply to inky could equally be my reply to you, and I wrote it before reading your last comment (15). So no thank needed:)

This has since been ID'd as Loetz.
    28. kairomalte, 3 years ago
This is definitely a Loetz vase, it is 'optically' blown. The décor is very similar to comparable known examples like dek=IV/106, IV/714, IV/744 (sometimes 4/744) or I/109 , the main difference being the type of blossom, the leaves are more or less the same as is the often used iridized 'Creta' green glass base for this enamelling.

kairomalte, thank you very much for such a full and detailed identification of these vases. I have another where the only difference is the blossom.......
