Found this today. Love it. I'm pretty sure it's homemade. It seems to be a marriage of three frames and a shelf built in. I'm wondering if it is a recent fake or something done as late as the 1950's and then stored in a shed. It's filthy. There are mud wasps' nests and their remnants on it. The paint is very cracked, but not in a faked way. Opinions?
Very Interesting! The outer and most inner seem to match! The other maybe was stripped of color? The shelves were probably added later. A frame in a frame in a frame to me means $ in $ in $! maybe special! are corners nailed?
Yes. It's all nailed together in a willy-nilly way. Some nails went in sideways and are sticking out. I tried to take it to a frame shop to have them put a hanger on it but the wood is so old it keeps splitting.
