I recently bought this antique brass fishing reel at an estate sale. The only markings on the reel is the number 60 on the bottom, which I believe stands for 60 yards, the amount of line the spool holds. Reel looks like a typical antique brass reel except it has a lever on the top, when engaged acts like a brake, maybe early drag lever. Small reel, base measures only 2 1/2". If anyone has any input as to the type, or maker, age, etc... any information would be helpful.

Your reel looks exactly like mine (also 2-1/2" base) but mine is marked 40 and has no drag lever. According to http://www.oldreels.com/generic.htm, it appears to have been made by Montague in Brooklyn, NY. (Interestingly, there is a Montague St. in Brooklyn). They made many similar reels under various names. Also check out comments under similar raised-pillar model posted by finchave.
