Showing off another one of my prized pieces in my art collection. This is a beautiful oil painting of a reclining nude by Elisha Kent Kane Wetherill (American, 1874-1929). It is 3 feet by 4 feet. I purchased it on eBay back in December of 2001 for about $1,100.00. It was part of an estate sale that was being liquidated. It was appraised by Alasdair Nichol, one of the appraisers from the Antiques Road Show at about $8,000.00. I didn't know it was valuable when I bid on it. I just knew it was a good painting and that I had to have it. Was the most money I have ever paid for art. Unbelievably, it was shipped from the west coast floating freely in a cardboard box!
