I love Tango glass, but for myself, I am most drawn to the softer Tango colors such as periwinkle, jade green, lavender and pink. And so, I am very happy to be able to add this bowl to my collection. I believe it to be Loetz, from the early 1920's. It is large - 12-1/4" in diameter, and 5" tall. (And it feels larger in person!) It has an applied black rim, and a perfectly ground pontil, but I have been unable to find an acid mark, as I did on my periwinkle Loetz Tango compote. Harrach made a similar color of pink Tango, but I have seen several other bowls identical to this in size and shape identified as Loetz by reputable collectors, and so am settling on Loetz for now. (Any other thoughts are welcome!) :)

My only thought is that it is scrumptious. Perhaps not what you meant!

Thank you, jagsrock95! I do, too! It almost glows due to the translucency of the glass.

Lovely. ..and a beautiful shape..a great find....from what I'm finding in some of the the larger Loetz items in Tango that I've looked at from photos anyway, they had the exporter mark on them....obviously if they had been exported. I've located several now and had one verified as the Loetz export mark...

quite interestingly on my computer it looks more like a lilac or lighter purple colour...maybe that's what the light does to play tricks on you when you take a photo..i have the same problem when I photograph light orange a Tango glass as it always comes out yellow...and now a rush of men will come forward saying it looks pink to them because a high proportion of men are colour blind...lol...

You must be so happy to add this to your collection. Is it my imagination or are a lot more ppl collecting or buying Tango at the moment. I struggled to find many current Tango posts when I first joined but it seems like more and more are being added...and I can see why ppl love them so much..the colour, the texture and the style are just so beautiful...

      :)

Anne, thanks so much. Yes, it actually does have a slight lavender cast to it. It is one of the things I love about Loetz Tango - their colors can be very subtle and beautiful. I have a Loetz periwinkle compote, as I mentioned above, and it is just the most beautiful shade of blue, again with a lavender cast. I think that Tango has been popular for quite a while, but perhaps is getting more and more well known due to some exhibits that have been in Europe in the last few years. Have you seen these images from the Tango Sklo exhibition? http://rover.rajce.idnes.cz/Tango_sklo/

yes thanks Michelle. I was sent those some time back and very interesting shelves indeed...
a lot of effort went in to those for sure!!!

Funny enough when I look at the bowl in the cover of darkness, hiding under the duvet so as not to disturb 3 cats and a husband, it now looks pinker...lol...beautiful, you have two bowls in one....

Thank you, inky! :) Now I just have to figure out where to put it - it takes up quite a bit of space, and I want to display it well. I need to make more room! :)

I love pink Tango glass too - pity it's so hard to find! The kind of pinks it comes in do seem to vary quite a bit, from soft pink to salmon to mauve - pink. They're all equally gorgeous!

It is great to see you on CW! :) Thanks so much - I know what you mean about it not being seen very often. Welz did a really beautiful palest pink tango - you can come across them sometimes, and I think it is just a beautiful color.
