There is speculation that this may be an early traveling alarm. I have not found the maker listed yet. If anyone can help with that I would appreciate being able to pin down the era it belongs to. There are a series of numbers stamped on the movement: 4848 then offset a bit the number 95 (may be 75) The word Swiss is stamped on the back of the case and the dial.
The front crystal is housed in a threaded assembly that screws off for access to the hands. The metal back (pictured) is encapsulated by a ring that snaps in place. It is stem wound; however, there is a small thumb tab for winding the alarm (the bright piece of metal at the top of the 2nd pic).
It has been noted that there is no bow. Any ideas as to what this is and who the maker is? I know that Baum and Mercier was the union of the Baum Brothers and a jeweler and watchmaker named Mercier, but I have not found much on his career prior to joining up with Baum.
