This antique buckle is a fine example of Czarist period Russian artistry. Featuring a typical Russian motif in niello over silver, it is subtle yet elegant and bears the word "Kavkaz" in cyrillic (Caucasus).
Made from chain linked sections with scrolling designs throughout. The clasp fits together with a dagger shaped pin, and Buckle is marked 84, one of the two Russian standards in silver; meaning it is 87% pure. Signed '6A' (???) by the work master. This letters looks similar to 6A but perhaps these are Cyrillic letters??
The buckle measures 4.9" x 2" (12.5 x 5 cm.)weight 46 gr. No loss to enamel. The ultra fine workmanship makes for an extremely interesting and attractive piece which can be appreciated both through the loupe, and across the room.
Who can tell me what the hallmarks mean. 84 is clear to me. The other two hallmarks not, who knows more?

agram.m you are very welcome. I really do love Russian silver. I am 99% sure the hallmarks from left to right are: the silversmith's hallmark (cyrillic), city/town mark, and the 84 zolotnik as you know is 87.5% pure silver.
I am still looking to ID the city mark, which I have never seen before and the silversmith

Hi, agram, another beautiful piece.
What appears to you to be the number "6" is, as you said, the Cyrillic letter "B." The letter "A" is the Cyrillic letter "A." So the maker's mark is "BA." I don't know the maker and the town mark, if I am seeing it correctly, isn't in my Tardy's book.
