    Patents changed hands frequently during the 1800s. I was fortunate to acquire an official document for the assignment of the patent #59,873 dated November 20, 1866 issued to Fayette F. Terry, of Port Gibson, New York. Mr. Terry relinquished all rights, title, and interest in the patent for the sum of $100.

    A model of the William G. Hermance gate mentioned at the bottom of the patent sold at auction recently. A model of the William Snyder gate is in my collection and may be seen in another posting.

    Would love to have all three. Someday ..............
