About a week ago I posted this vase as "Loetz Green Empire Vase". The seller had described it as green and I used his photos for my posting. However I was informed by some CW members that the vase was actually Loetz Yellow Empire so I changed the title on CW.

Yep, it sure looks green now! Photos can really distort the true colors of a piece. Sometimes this is done on purpose by the seller and other times, as in the example of your vase, it is just bad photography. I purchased a "rare" orange Ausf 226 once only to discover when I opened the box that it was actually just another typical "yellow" example. "Color" is also an important factor in decor assignments and can make the difference between one decor assignment vs another. Yellow, green, pansy or blitz, the Empire decor is one of my favorites.

Empire yellow(gelb) texas with silver c. 1906. This greenish yellow color Fluoresces strongly green under UV light such as fluorescent or sun light so color is somewhat dependant on the eye of the beholder.
