Picked this up at Salvation along with the wood sculpture. What intrigued me was the price which was relatively expensive for a thrift and the marks on the back. Yes, the plate is pretty too and it's in perfect condition with all the gold design intact. The glare on the bottom hides some of it. I'm not sure if it's a saucer. There is a circle of little raised dots in the middle but no indentation for a cup. The marks on the back seem excessive for such a little piece. I believe it's Japanese but have no clue as to the maker or age.

At first glance I thought it was transfer print but closer inspection it's hand painted after first fire maybe and then a really high glaze temperature fire.
Usually the Japanese do the moriage work so that's closer to Japanese.
It maybe a tea cup saucer, prior to indentations in the pottery.
It looks about late 18th or early 19th century but I'm no expert in this area at all.
      Nice find..
