Found this today , a chinese mug & cover dating 1985~ 2000 , it is
5 1/2" high to top of lid ..
decorated in floral scroling patterns and 4 chinese marks around the mug matched on the lid..
they are Wan shou jiang decorations, meanings are-
Wan - Auspicious character meaning "innumerable", literary ten thousand.
    shou- meaning "longevity".
    Wu- meaning "no"
Jiang- meaning "border" together with wu as in wujiang meaning limitless .
I like this chinese ware and never seen one with a cover so had to be bought fof £1..

Hi patsea :-) I think the lids are to stop the bugs from going in the drink as china has a lot of insects floating around !! I think theyre cool and slightly different to the norm !!!! :-))
Thanks virginia.vintage & CindB for your loves :-))

Lids may have been to keep the tea hot as well. :)

      Like the colors.
