A 3" x 6 1/2" single sided porcelain sign used in early New Eng Tel & Tel telephone booths. One of the smallest telephone signs! During the era when these were used, smoking wasn't considered a health hazard; however, the accumulated smoke over time gummed up the transmitter and garbled speech. These signs were introduced prior to 1900.
