While I was digging today, I found this old drawing or etching. It appears to be a hand drawn original -- not a page out of a book. Marked: 1767 J Haas (bottom left); Rosenholm at Fee Fra Den Vestre Side (center top). Someone wrote 1765 in pencil at top with an illegible notation. It has some staining and wrinkles but then, I dug it up at the junk yard so I can't complain. Approx. 13 x 9 inches. I think it is a Danish castle.

Rosenholm, at see fra den Vestre Side.
Rosenholm as seen from the western side.
Castle 20 km north of Århus.
It was a foldout illustration from volume or Bishop Pontoppidans "Danske Atlas", København 1768.

vetraio50, I always learn so much from you since your knowledge is staggering.

sunnynature22, you might want to have a paper conservator remove the tape and frame it properly. Your engraving is from volume 4.

Simply as a matter of interest, here is the complete set of Pontoppidan's "Danish Atlas:"

What a find! The castle is from the mid-1500's - here's the wiki page (in Danish, but you can see how lovely it is even today!): vhttp://da.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosenholm_Slot

Thanks, jensen, what a majestic castle. Have you been there?

The Danish link doesn't work since there is a "v" before the "http" so here is the English Wiki link:

I haven't, no, but practically all Danes know it because of a Christmas TV series which was filmed there!
