A friend found this at an estate sale, and couldn't pass up the weirdness.
The internet has failed me....maybe you'll have better luck.
From his posting:
On the bottom, it reads as follows, "TRICKSY TRAY. / Trade Mark / Patent Pending / Howell Device Co. / Cleveland, Ohio. / Made in. U.S.A.". There are four, what I believe to be, sagger points on each corner. There is also some areas where the glaze has has some problems.
On the top, is a very odd, Art Deco - Mid Century Modern looking structure for cigarettes, matches and I believe a pipe. There is gold or silver decoration in various places (see pics) and the glaze is ... well ... um ... American Standard Toilet Pink or flesh tone. It's possible that American Standard made this for the Howell Device Company as a vendor, because they did make ashtrays.
