I inherited this chair. It has been in the same condition since 1957. It is solid walnut, except for the back and top horizontal rail of the back. The back has hand carved leaves with a walnut veneer. The top of the back has some other type of light colored wood with same veneer. It has been recovered several times. Some of the coverings were tacked underneath the rails (apparently incorrectly). Can anyone help me identify this chair?

Check out Swedish Biedermeier. That lyre shaped back support might have been a darker colour and contrasting with the lighter colour of the rest of the chair. Swedish furniture is mostly birch, I think.
