You're welcome southcop...I will add...first one I've seen with City token attached. Make's it that much more neat.

I have never seen this city token attached myself....probably the manufacture is directly linked to the cop itself.kinda "trench art stuff".yeah make's it that much more neat per se.

Would venture to agree. Does Detroit PD still carry baton as part of uniform patrol and if you know, are they still white ?

they use that kind of expandable police baton,high-strength stainless steel stick .
That wooden model had been phased out by expandable one. Some police may prefer to carry a fixed baton due to the greater intimidation it may provide(PR 24 Monadnock),In a situation in which stealth is required, a collapsed baton may rattle, giving away the officer's position.

Thanks for the info... local officers here still carry old school wooden baton....dark in color...stained dark finish or black.

I do like old school wooden models. The department (NYPD)has now decided that less is more, and is returning to the standard nightstick, albeit an updated high-density plastic version. The PR 24 modern baton requires complicated maneuvers and frequent retraining. At the time of the switch in 1989, police officials said that the nightstick(wooden old school baton), which is simply gripped at one end, lent itself to downward blows and could more easily lead to an accidental strike to the head.

OOPS....lol....accidents happen or crap accrues, as we say here. :-)

Nice Southcop, but ....Ouch, that's gotta smart !!....... My aunt, uncle and grandmother lived in Detroit on West Grand Boulevard. They moved to Dearborn after the 60's riots. They were very reluctant to live there after that, as were a lot of folks. Wonder if this was something the police might have used back then.

I am so sorry about that!I was given this nightstick by a friend.I say ouch!! myself!!! :-( I do understand your point of view in every nook and cranny!your folks have my respect.:-)
