My father had this key. I think he got it from my Grandmother. Very curious what it is for. One side is engraved with ZEPPELIN and the other side from the top down BB, ARREST, ZELLE, II.D

Exciting, must have a great underlying story! Arrestzelle means "prison cell" in German. Maybe Cell no. 2.D? Try and look for a German prison named Zeppelin?

Prison cell is perhaps not the correct translation, I guess a room where you are arrested or in custody is more appropriate. E.g., there was a passenger ship named Zeppelin Early 1900 hundreds, perhaps it had a cell for locking up burglars or offensive passengers until you reached next harbour... Other possibilities, I doubt the Zeppeliner air ship was called "Zeppelin"

Have a look here, maybe a clue. Although underwenth name changes, perhaps it was too great a task to rename all the keys, and the name Zeppelin remained when the ship was a passenger ship. in the early 20's?
