Arne Jacobsen salad servers. Designed for the SAS Hotel Copenhagen 1958. These are by George Jensen. I found them on the random cutlery bin for 50 cents each. I think they must have been an unappreciative gift? They are still available in retail outlets and retail for about 80 dollars.

U8, thanks for showing me your GJ and I am so envious at the price! Your salad servers sell for $95.00 on Jensen's site:
      http://www.georgjensen.com/us/cutlery/arne-jacobsen-matte-steel

I love my flatware and it has an added benefit: I am forced to take smaller bites than I could with a conventional fork since the fork tines are incredibly short; it's the next best thing to using chop sticks. ;-)

Since it was designed for the hotel, the diners must have all felt very full since they had to eat slowly.

I also have some of the Jacobsen pattern made by A. Michelsen that is discontinued, and now cost more than the Jensen.

icollectglass, you have now motivated me to start going to thrift stores and checking the flatware bin. And, thanks for the safety warning since I would not have thought about that.

      Great find Ulysses!

I'm sorry Sean, your position at the top of the incredibly clever thrifting tree is under attack! I will have to stop mumbling congratulations and swear words to you and move on to Ulysses!
