Statue is about 10 inches tall and about 7 inches wide. Item is pretty heavy as it is made entirely of stone. I would say about 10 pounds or so. I have no idea what kind of stone it is. Its very dark and the statue is carved from one piece. I found this statue in a canal so I'm not sure its worth anything. I'm just curious to know what it is. I feel like it has good ju-ju. If anyone can give me a clue or tell me anything about this piece that would be very helpful! Thank you! You can also tweet me @just_smile8 :)

Hi Being_hueman this is a statue of the Goddess Ganesha (Hinduism), considered the remover of obstacles, a patron of the sciences, arts and intellect. I can't really tell what material this is from the pictures, but all kinds of black stone are used some are more expensive than others particularly Makarana marble stone -Soul

Hey, we're going to get pics of the back and bottom and where the top is chipped so maybe you can ID the stone, maybe a time period and from there maybe a value too... we'll see. I love what you're telling me about the meaning behind the statue too.

I should clarify I'm not an expert on stone, maybe someone here can help identify the stone? I would start research with any identifying marks, now that you know what the statue is depicting, it may be easier to find more information in relation to it's age and value. -Regards Soul
