i picked this up at a yardsale in san francisco yesterday. i'm not sure what it is, so any help will be appreciated. it appears to be missing something which ties the legs together below - from the holes inside the knees.

i agree w/ you PhilDavidAlexanderMorris, but it's still a nice little stash box for $5! i've seen real old and beautiful ones before, and i know how nice they are, but chances of me being able to find / afford one aren't very high. thanks mikelv85! what are these things called, anyways?
