I need help getting correct color discription. Is this dish Marigold or Amethyst?

      I was told the "base" glass on Marigold is clear, and the "base" glass on Amethyst is light purple. Is this true?

      you're correct the glass color plays a part in the color designation of carnival glass. This piece looks amethyst to me. Here is an online guide to colors:
