This is a beautiful piece, but I have absolutely no idea what it was used for. It is about 10.5 inches long, and an inch wide. If anyone has a thought, an idea, or information about this item I would love to know about it. Thanks

clockerman, I don't think so because there's no curve to the wood. I didn't show a side view of that end so I can see why you would think that. Thanks for your input.

we don't know the size of it. i'm assuming it's pretty small. could it be a letter-opener?

ho2cultcha, I actually thought of a letter opener, but then dismissed the idea, because of the fact that has no point. it is about 10.5 inches long and an inch wide.

Thanks Phil, the patina is beautiful. I love this piece even though I don't know what it is.
