These are some if my military tools. A P38 or can opener. Mess Kit for eating meals. A Hand warmer for those cold winter days and nights. I used these or one like it in my early 1979 years. I now regret not holding on to all my Military Gear.

Riply26. I too was surprised to find so many Military issue P38's Large and small still around and new. The reason the pan is so clean is because it has never been used. It's kept in it's original stock numbered Military supply issued box. My Favorite field Meals were the C Rations. canned Ham with canned Crackers using a small P38 to open. Then smoking a 4 pack of pall mall cigarettes that were included. All that and I was in Navy JROTC in High School at the time.

By the way the mess Kit and P38 is no longer used by the Military. Young Soldiers have never seen these Items.

Mess kits were still issued at some installations into the 2000s (I got one at FT Campbell in 02), but we didn't use them. Paper plates were the standard.

I met a p38 in my truck ashtray or something some months ago & don't know where it is now & don't really care. When things aren't going real well, I wear my old dog-tags to remind me that things can always be worse. Friends have learned not to bother me when I wear them.LOL
