I have recently acquired a rather unusual Mickey Mouse pocket watch from Eastern Europe which I initially thought was a modern reproduction, made to look like the vintage pre WW2 models produced by Ingersoll in the USA and in England respectively, albeit using totally different style watch case, dial, hands and movement. However, upon closer examination, I have noticed the following similarities and differences when compared to the official versions:-

    Similarities :-
    1. The 'paper' dial texture is consistence with the USA Ingersoll models.
    2. The print quality and ink colouring of Mickey's image is almost the same and as good as the official models.
    3. Mickey's shoes and his tail are rather similar to the 1936 English version aka 'Bearded Mickey'.

    Differences :-
    1. Mickey's pie-eyed face is totally different from the rest.
    2. No 'seconds' disc indication.
    3. The hands are much chunkier and finger lines showing on the gloves.
    4. The watch case is decorated with 30's style art decor details.
    5. The movement is not an Ingersoll (USA) or UMF/Ruhla (England) but a typical 'Roskopff' style pin-lever.
    6. The minute track on the dial, the movement used, the style of the hands and the way the hands are connected to the center wheel appears to be very similar the the Donald Duck pocket watch, claimed to have been produced by Ward W. Co. in the 50s (but could be by someone else and much earlier).

Mickey Mouse timepiece expert Kerry10456 has suggested that this could be a vantage bootleg piece made for the French market. He is most likely correct as there are no signatures or copyright markings to be seen.
I am appealing for anyone who can lead me to a portrait of Mickey that matches the dial so that I can try to date this watch correctly!

Hope you have enjoyed this posting! :-)
