I bought this very rough, 1800's steamer trunk, at a yard sale for $10.00
not sure if I paid too much or not, but I have been looking for one for years and I got it.
This round top trunk has the original wood straps on top, original wheels and locking mechinism (don't think it locks, I don't have a key to open it anyway lol). It always has the original tin plates in "barn fresh" condition... the pink color is still kinda there on most of them.
one last thing... I can't find any markings or #'s on it anywhere???? no clue if it is really from time mentioned..thats just what the guy said and it belonged to his grandmother...
    I love it!!!
Any other info anyone has would be great....
    thanks

For $10 purchase price I definitely suggest putting some money into and have it restored. It will turn out beautiful. If you don't want to do a full restoration, minimally you could clean it up and re-line the inside so that you can store things in it. Enjoy it!

it is actually in really bad shape, I don't think it would be worth restoring or if could even be restored...unfortunatly.....i love it anyway....
      thanks everyone

Doesn't look so bad to me, I think you got a deal! Some elbow grease, steel wool, gun oil, and perhaps some paint but I would see how the great works first. Good luck
