    don't know what this is, could be an urn or a snuff bottle, seller said it was from circa 1875 and was made of jade.

      can't scrape it, its either jade, ceramic or marble idk, its hard though. i know theres a lot of different jades. doesn't have to be green. i thought it was an urn because there was some black markings on the inside, thought it was ashes or snuff. i really think i found a hidden tresure just need some help to identifying it. All help is wanted, thank you

      Sorry this just doesn't have the ascetics to be antique. The poorly executed crosshatch is a dead giveaway that this is a new piece.

      serpentine also scratches w/ a key or piece of steel, like soapstone. i've heard that jade is the only thing which doesn't scratch w/ steel. an exacto knife is probably a good test of this.
