This is my grandfather's stein. I do not know anything else about it at all. The bottom of the stein has the numbers 1399 stamped into it, as well as Germany.

Any information about this stein would be greatly appreciated! Thanks. Pete

I've never really researched this stein, but thought it would be fun to try at least.

Check the pewter parts for a makers mark - sometimes on the thumb piece or stamped inside the rim. The 1399 would just be a pattern number.

I looked over every inch of this stein, and (after reading your suggestion) the pewter lid, very closely. Alas, nothing. No marks anywhere. I guess the age of this stein, or anything else about it will remain a mystery. Thanks anyway.

      Thanks for that though! Pete
