Of coarse the other pic shows better details but this shows the actual patina
Looks better in these images, but I am still not sure (MY opinion).

Hahaha ok man I don't no anything about u .. R u an expert have u been dealing w civil war era merchandise for awhile .. I may seem to be coming off alittle feisty now but I posted this piece to a few differnt sites yesterday and contacted about 20 ppl threw email .. Verdict is in and u r the only person to even think it's not an actual buckle.. When I say contacted 20 ppl they r all civil war dealers and that's what they specialize in ... I also got my value as about four was able to give me a price all I'm around the same amount +-$50 so yeah ...
First I did NOT say it was fake. I said I AM NOT SURE.
I have been buying and selling Civil War items for 35 years.
My focus is photography but I have owned and sold a lot of CW era buckles over the years. Dug items are NOT my specialty.
There are many folks whose opinion is better than mine on these.
