Trying to get some information on this water jug purchased from an antique dealer in Bamyan province, Afghanistan. Best guess is it's an Aft Aubs or Loti, used for hand-washing, possibly 18th century, copper and brass with tin seaming. 13" high with the globular formed body measuring around 8", splayed foot, elongated spout with a gentle curve, long tapering cylindrical neck. Check out what looks to be dovetail joints (or 'cramped') connecting two different metals within both the body and the neck (the most interesting features!) Very ornate (hand-chased and chiseled). It looks like it was damaged in some kind of fire. Anybody know anything more about this piece?

I have clicked to follow your post. This is a beautiful piece! There does not seem to be a lot of information on these metal wares. :)

Thanks Sunnybrook! Although seriously fire damaged, it is a beautiful piece and I just love it. I'll post new information on the 2 jugs as I find it.

I've seen Tibetan variation of this kind of jug. For hand washing in religious ritual. Good luck

That makes sense considering the old trade routes. If you find further information please feel free to share! P.S. Love the table you made from old printing blocks.
