this helmet is a Taiwan export steel M1 helmet supplied to the Royal Saudi Armed forces during the Persian Gulf War , the helmet has been finished in a flat sand textured desert tan paint with a net, also has a matching desert tan color liner, the Saudi soldier in the photo has a camo cover over his steel helmet and is armed with a West German G3 battle rifle chambered in .308 NATO

The great majority of the Coalition's military forces were from the U.S., with Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom and Egypt as leading contributors, in that order.

Not real sure I would want to trust a helmet made in Taiwan?!! In the desert, I don't think it would be wise to stick pine clippings in the camo cover & never tried getting sand to to stick. Maybe camel dung.

a steel helmet must feel awful if you had to wear it out in the scorching hot desert , Ive seen lots of photos with soldiers smearing mud on the helmet for camouflage, smearing wet mud and letting it dry makes excellent desert camo, they probably used camel dung too, lol!
