    In the same trash where i found the Victorian tile, i also found loads of cool Christmas decorations. I think that this french horn is probably the oldest item - i think it's also Victorian. It measures about 5-6" across.

      thanks Riply206. it doesn't look like a candlestick base to me. i don't know how to tell the difference between an old tassle and a new one.

      Whatever it it is you can't date it by the rope on it, that could have been tied on there a year ago.
      The patina on the brass looks older than the rope.
      The mouthpiece does look rather unconventional.
