quite well done i think it is...
showing a rich decoration in cobalt blue
    and an allover bluish tinge
    some iron oxide particles
    an unglazed foot rim
    but unfortunately no mark

    any ideas?

I have no idea , but it is well done and very beautiful!!!!

It's beautiful GTMOM....Pretty sure it's Japanese as the landscape panels around the rim are divided by the fabric ones which is typically Japanese. I'm thinking Arita blue Imari . I have some similar pieces probably late 19th to early 2oth century.

I agree with Mike, and it is transfer ware, meaning it was not hand painted. But its still a very nice piece. It is Japanese because of the blue ring inside the foot, Chinese did not do that.
