I just received the two melon vases from a seller on eBay. The color is significantly different from the other white I have (shown for comparison purposes). I have one older piece from my mother-in-law and the few pieces I have collected are similar in color, so I know those are authentic. Could someone tell me if these melon vases are a knock off or just a different type of white Fenton I am not familiar with. Thank you so much.

Wow, those are really different! I haven't seen the pale version, ever. So now I'm concerned...however, I don't know. (They look suspicious).

While it's hard to tell from a photo taken on a light colored background, your melon vases look like Fenton's Ivory Crest pattern. This pattern was only made for a year between 1940-41 due to difficulty in sourcing material during wartime. They could also be some of the early Fenton milk glass pieces before 1958 which were more opalescent, less opaque or less solid white. But I doubt it, they really look like Ivory Crest to me. They're really nice!

Thanks to everyone for their comments. The pieces are also much lighter in weight for their size than any other pieces I have ever held. I have decided to return them to the seller. Again, thanks to everyone for their help, I truly appreciate it.

might help to see the ivory melon vases up closer and also a look at the bottom. I understand that Fenton may have used uranium salts to achieve the ivory color; so these may also fluoresce under black light.
