This has been in my family for over 60 years. The note that has always been in it pretty much says all that I know of it. The person it mentioned was a sultan of the ottoman empire. The star of David kind of got to me but after research he did have Jewish slaves, and they liked him according to what I could find out. My thoughts are that one of his slaves made this for him as a gift. I have not had it appraised as of yet but believe the stones are real. Rubies, diamonds, emeralds and one large sapphire in the center of the star on the lid. The container itself is brass and appears to be hand hammered. Can anyone tell me more about it or where the best place to have it appraised might be?
