found this old trunk at Brimfield, MA this weekend - it was covered in old green canvas and the inside smelled terrible and had the linen lining. it has nice thin slats on top and sides and brass corners - wondering if this might be an early Goyard trunk - no such markings anywhere. thanks for info - Kaye

The lock hardware ,lid lifter and latches are american made. Goyard would have used more than four nails across the slats. The steel band around the lid would have had solid brass nails of an equal amount to the slats aligning vertically and more of them.. A few American companies tried to compete with the french trunk manufacturers one thatcomes to mind is Crouch & Fitzgerald.Sorry No Goyard.
