Metal lighter and Ashtray. Think this might be from world war 2 but not sure. Both are made of metal. Would anyone know the year this was made? Also how would one go about getting the lighter to work? Up date... says 25 PR. RM/C. LOT 41. 1945. Think that means it was made in 1945.

It is called Trench Art-- utilitarian ware and artwork created from war residue.

The "lighter ashtray" was a very popular trench art creation during WW2.

You are correct about the date-- it signifies the shell was made in 1945. The lighter was probably made in 1945 or soon after the war.

I am a trench art collector and have about 100 trench art postings on Collectors Weekly. Be sure to check my items, if you'd like to see other Trench Art objects.

You don't give any dimensions, but looks like a 20 m/m case, but could be 37 m/m.
