The green plate is a luncheon or sandwhich plate - a little smaller than a regular dinner plate [for size comparison]. It measures about 28" across x 15" wide x 8" deep. It's very finely crafted w/ the best of everything, from what i can tell. it's really beautiful! i'd love to know what the writing szys on it, if anyone can read it. any other info appreciated as well.
What is it made of?
i think that this is yixing clay, so it's a chinese pot, probably made for the Japanese market. i think that the yellow color is a slip decoration known as 'engobe'. The feet are called 'cloud feet' and the words are probably a poem or haiku.
i think that this is known as the 'wu' style of pot.

Bonsai is a japanese term, but in english, it's used to cover all the 'small trees in containers' made by Japanese, Chinese, Taiwanese, Vietnamese. these are all outdoor plants - never indoors, except a few which are kept in greenhouses in the winter, but only a few. i've been studying and raising bonsai for over 30 yrs, but i do use the term somewhat loosely. the japanese word for bonsai comes from the chinese word which sounds very similar. this pot is probably made in China for use in Japan, Taiwan, or even the usa.
thanks idcloisonne. this may have been made for use in China, but i doubt it. this kind of luxury good has been made for export in china for over 500 yrs - mostly to Japan, but also Taiwan, and in the 20th c, for Europe and USA. these are very expensive to buy today - esp. at this size. i guarantee you that the man in the video was pruning his miniature pine tree to be grown outdoors. they do not survive indoors at all - the air is just too dry and not right. there are very few plants which can be grown successfully indoors and most of them are tropical plants from the understory of the rainforest. pines, in particular need almost full sun and cool conditions and high humidity for at least a good part of the year. it's very difficult to maintain those conditions indoors.
