This is the current, common pin made by Brunswick, the Max. It bears the classic "crown" neck band that goes back many decades. Sanctioned for league play by the USBC. This pin has a very slippery surface and I don't know why. The clear coat does not seem as thick or as of the same cosmetic quality or surface finish as its primary competition, the QubicaAMF pink pin. It's just slippery. Control weight, standard dimensions. Really nothing at all spectacular about this pin. It is simply a workhorse. In fact, my local bowling center uses Brunswick Max. The other current mainline Brunswick pin is the modern Score King. Thus far, I have not been able to find an unused specimen of that pin. Even though it is described by Brunswick as the premium pin, it is not held in uniformly high esteem by bowling center staff.

I'm not sure about the Brunswick, but when I worked as a mechanic at a bowling center whenever we got new pins (Amflites) we would have to wipe them down with alcohol due to a greasy coating on them from the molds. Played hell in the A2 pin setters we had if we didn't. The 82-30 pinspotters we had on the other half were fine. Once we wiped them down they weren't nearly as slick.

I have a vintage Brunswick Score King. I showed it on CW some time ago. It's on my page.

I saw that, Deano. Nice couple of pins you've got there!
