I had one of those a longtime ago and it was marked , I just cant remember the name of it .
Lovely european cabin trunk. They steamed the birch wood slats over a form and then fitted them on the trunks. This one is a nice example form the 1920's or so. It is a size suitable for "carry on" on a ship and would fit nicely under the bunk. Hard to tell from the pics if the corner guards are brass or not -- if so they would shine up nicely. Many of these types were made in England and Germany and also France. This one looks English but that is kind of an intuitive guess -- the French usually used more brass and the Germans -- well, similar to English. Either way a nice cabin trunk and bonus cool white colour as opposed to the normative drab brown I usually see. Hope this helps a bit -- good pick!!! PS. makers bonus to have the side slats on the ends...

Goggle: Vellum trunk images --- A few good examples of other trunks of this coloring/ covering will pop up. It may be covered in vulcanized fibre as opposed to vellum though. corners could be made of calf or goat skin,held together with rivets.Hardware does appear to be steel British is a solid guess especially with that
interior ribbon pattern.The French Manufacturers by law had to mark products for export. If there is not a mark it can make it easier to eliminate that origin(but not always the case as there was no requirement to mark items that were for domestic sale in France.Beechwood is another wood that was used at the time for bent wood slats.Hard to know!
