This extravagant pair are from Kamei Japan, 1960s.

Around this time Japanese glass makers often made these duos of matching vases and ashtrays, both pieces often very sizable.
They also liked a bit of gold!

The vase here is 28cm (11in) high and the ashtray 18cm (7in) wide.

They are just so very Japanese.
And to go with that, they came in what the Japanese call the co-box.
    Yep! The original co-box. Sweet.

      Many thanks guys!

Lisa I have noticed even the pieces from Europe get boxed for Japan. So a piece say from Kosta Boda (Kosuta Boda) will be in a proper box! So cool.

Thanks SpunkysMom - if only we still had lots of the stuff from when we were kids....nah, not most, just some!

Thanks Inky, with the dark name and love for dark glass.

      Thanks Sean!
