This Is a 1907 king bridge rail road plate.It is one That they dont have in museum.I bought this at a storage sale.It weighs a ton Well not really.If anyone knows more about these plates please let me know.Thanks

Well ' I've seen several of this type of plate, they where placed on the leading truss of the bridge on the right hand side as you approched the bridge, most of them have been Lost(stolden) over the years. By the way I'm no expert, just a bridge builder-inspector for the state, lol. Thanks for sharing, I really like it
Just a little note Eli bridge co. made alot of kit bridges for the railroads, they where assybled by the railroads but each had similar plates attached to them, excuse my spelling.lol, Kerry

BRIDGE BUILDERS PLATES, CAST IRON. TO MY KNOWLEDGE NO MATTER WHAT TYPE OF BRIDGE WAS BUILT LONG OR SHORT OR BIG AND TALL WERE BUILT BY COMPANIES WHO WERE HIRED BY RAILROADS, TO BUILD THEM. TO NAME A FEW BUILDERS ... AMERICAN BRIDGE, BOSTON BRIDGE, PHOENIX BRIDGE AND BETHLEHEM STEEL CO. I LIVE IN NEW ENGLAND AND THESE ARE SOME OF WHICH I HAVE FOUND AND SEEN. EVERY BUILDER CAST THEIR NAME ON A CAST IRON PLATE, AND SOMETIMES THE YEAR THE BRIDGE WAS BUILT, DEPENDING ON WHAT TYPE OF BRIDGE WAS BUILT THESE PLATES CAN BE FOUND AT THE BEGINNING OR THE ENDS OF A BRIDGE. ON SOME BRIDGES THERE ARE NO BUILDERS PLATES AT ALL.
