This creamer/sugar bowl set was given to me as a child in the early 60's. The set belonged to my great-grandparents. I believe the set is from the late 1800's or early 1900's. The only markings stamped on the bottom is "made in Japan." Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I have a couple pieces like this--yours have a very cool design! I believe they are newer than late 1800's, early 1900's. I cannot exactly remember the guidelines for dating, but you could look up info about dating made in Japan pieces. It's quite interesting, as I remember. They are marked depending on the year and at some point they were marked with "made in" as opposed to just Japan or Nippon. And you can rule out the occupied period. Hope this helps

Thank you so much for responding!!!

Jewels...do you recall what your pieces are called? As for the era, I believe my grandfather took possession of the set after his parents died. His father passed away in the late 40's and then his mother passed away in 1951.

Hi vandy, No problem at all! I would just google "vintage made in japan sugar and creamer set" and look at images. The design on your set looks very unique, I have seen a lot of the mostly orange lusterware. I don't know if your set is considered lusterware?

Okay, vandy, I believe it is lusterware

A collector has indicated that it is lusterware. They also think the set is from the late 20's, early 30's. Definitely pre WWII.
Again, thanks for all your post Jewels as they are greatly appreciated!
