Number one ranked Texas Longhorns with a perfect season up to present except one "tie" against Baylor. Article includes the founding of the University in 1883 when the state legislature deeded 2 million acres to the school, oil was discovered in 1923 and the school started to grow "Texas Big" and fast. Now under the 5th year of famous coach Dana X. Bible hired away from Nebraska, Texans are very proud of their top rated team.

Happy times for the most part, but less than 6 weeks after this issue, Pearl Harbor was attacked and America was at war once again. This is how fast times can change.

This issue is chocked full of interesting pre war articles and many full page ads for such as 14k gold and opal cuff-links for $3.50-$12.00 depending on the size and shape of the stones, and whether or not you want a handsome deluxe "gift-box". Listerine toothpaste regularly priced at $.50 but for a limited time you got the toothpaste and a $.47 toothbrush for the same price of 50 cents.
