Just so you don't get to thinkin' that colored glass collections is a fairly new thing; this collection of colors was made by Central Glass Co. in the 1880s. I have a set of three different sizes of the sapphire blue stands. The large crystal stand is almost 13" diameter; these large bakers' stands are getting harder to find these days and I have a blue on of this size too.

These are so good! The colours are unusual especially that green but it's the clean shape I love the most! What are great collection of old girls!

Based on glass bottles from the same era, one could never imagine there were companies able to produce such beautiful pieces.

I'm sure the glass making was much more labor intensive in those days as well. Tho' many makers produced some great glass : )

thanks WP... : ) there are a few bubbles, at least in the plate of the amber piece. Generally EAPG may have a few bubbles, which is an acceptable part of manufacture as long as they are not burst.

many newer cake stands do have the plateau "glued" atop the stem. Many of the newer Fostoria pieces were glued and it often discolors. I've had to re-glue several over the years as the joint will fail; I use a glass epoxy for repairs.

I have a glued version of the Centennial II pattern in one of my posts here that shows the bright reflection of the glued joint under black light.

It thrilled me to see your cake stands on CW's page as it has a lot of fans on FB, so you got a lot of eyeballs on this beautiful glass, and perhaps won some new admirers, Sir TallCakes. :)
